A two day trip with friends to visit the Baie de l'Aiguillon in order to watch and photograph the birds.

The Baie de l'Aiguillon is a silted area, sandwiched between the Pointe de l'Aiguillon and the Pointe Saint-Clément. The Sèvre Niortaise crosses it to reach the ocean. The Pointe de l'Aiguillon is a sandbank, a dune which closes the bay. It offers you an exceptional panorama on the interior of the bay, its marshes and its salt meadows, but also on the Sea of Pertuis-Breton and the island of Ré. The Aiguillon Bay National Nature Reserve extends the Marais Poitevin Nature Reserve and forms the junction between the sea and the marsh. The canals of the Poitevin marsh and the Sèvre Niortaise flow into it, forming an atypical ecosystem of salt meadows and mudflats.
