September 2024, my annual pilgrimage to Barrobjectif, the internationally respected exhibition of photo journalism held in the village of Barro in Charente, France. It's trademark is that it is held "outdoors" : around 600 large format photos by some 75 well known photographers simply displayed on wood panels and walls around the village. This year I visited with 2 friends from the Jumilhac photo club.
As always, a wonderful mix of photo journalism ranging from heartbreaking scenes of war in Ukraine and Gaza among others to amusing reports from events such as Hellfest.
A highlight of the visit was the display of work by Peter Turnley, photo journalist of the highest level, and to view a wide range of his images spanning more than 5 decades. We also met Pierre Delaunay, founder of the exhibition many years ago and still an active part of the organisation.
Unmissable !
